The Gospel

God came down into the world to show His love,
Humbled Himself to die, that our relationship with Him could be made right,
Bearing the weight of our many sins, He lived perfect and came to forgive.

Since the beginning God wanted us to live; in reliance and dependence on, giving glory to Him.
But right at the start we corrupted our hearts, Chose us over Him; the original sin.
Though we ran, God took us back, gave us the law and said to fear Him.
Have no god’s before Him (none carved or molded, even ones unspoken) for God is sacred; above all else, Creator, Sustainer and Worthy of Praise. His name is not to be used in vain
Set apart the Sabbath as His day; keep it holy.
Honor your Father, Honor your Mother
Don’t kill
Don’t commit adultery
Don’t Steal,
 Don’t lie,
Don’t Covet
Over time we missed the point; we judged the outside when God looks within
We twisted the law to make ourselves sufficient,
We crafted ourselves at the source of wisdom.
But we’re still Humans; born in Sin.
God being Holy can’t live with this;
So He made Him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might receive the righteousness of God
Not based on anything that we have done, but only on God’s love.
Let’s stop to think on just what this means; I can’t earn God, he chose me.
My sins are forgiven, nailed to the tree
This is the Gospel; That the Creator GOD came down to earth,
Showed us that even when we think we’re our best; we’re just as filthy as the rest;
Whoever keeps the whole law, yet falls in one point is guilty of all.
Not only outside, it starts in the heart; when we hate; we’re murders, when we lust; we’re cheats.
That’s why we need God to intervene.
Left to ourselves we’re without hope; but Christ Jesus brings life to all who believe.
Christ comes to live in us; gives us the law now chiseled on our hearts.
Though we still fall when we try on our own He walks with us and calls us His own
Pulls us up out of the muck, we try to dust ourselves off with our filthy hands,
but Christ washes us clean like only He can.
Genesis through Revelation; it’s all God’s word- see for yourself this love story unfold.
Reconcile with God and be reborn.

Now what?

The Gospel is a powerful message; That God, the Creator of the Universe, loves us enough that He provided a way for us to live in a relationship with Him; by covering our sins through Christ's work on the cross... so many times we stop there, we think; God paid for all my sins; so I'm good to go do what I want now. We like to be a sponge of the Gospel, focused on us and trying to get something. But God didn't save us so that we would just live then to make ourselves comfortable and relax here and now and become focused on "the good life"

There are too many people who are going to die without knowing Christ for us to sit back and live THE GOOD LIFE!

How many times do we make excuses for this sponge behavior, not sharing because of what people will think, because it takes our precious time, because it's inconvenient.

How much do you have to hate someone to NOT share the Truth that will save their life?!

What if a proper response to the Gospel is that of an Explosion. An explosion that is focused not on trying to get ourselves to a high place, (a life still centered on us) but rather a life focused on God, and trying to give Him Glory (Does He not deserve it?!) A sponge can have a reaction and go unnoticed, an explosion is hard to ignore.
Who do you love?
When people come in contact with you, do they leave that moment thinking of Christ, or have you wasted your time and theirs? Are you so focused on using your time (or money, or skills) to make yourself look good, or do you care about people enough to share your friendship;

Matthew 28:16-20 "Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Introduce someone to God! Live out The Gospel!

Adopted into Grace

I was adopted when I was 3 days old, So I don't remember vividly what it was like without my adopted parents, kinda like how I was adopted into grace at a young age and don't have a large memory of life without Christ. So my perspective on being adopted is mostly in retrospect, rather than comparing two lives. When I look back, I am so grateful that my biological mother didn't believe in abortion, and hadn't bought into the lie that I was just a clump of cells (the argument in her day was probably whether I was human, compared to today's calling me a parasite) God used a "mistake" to bring me into the world... I'm glad God doesn't make mistakes. His plan is perfect, and though we still sin, He is still in control. He was in control when my adopted mother wanted children but couldn't have one, He was in control when my biological mom didn't want a child but was given me.
Adoption isn't the same as parents having a child of their own (also a gift from God) but rather it's parents seeking out a child. This is amazing to me, when I was unable to walk/talk/live on my own and unaware that I was in a helpless state, my parents sought me out and rescued me, much like God when I was sinful and opposed to Him.
Adoption shows Grace - we are given life (1.21 million (in 2008) children were not given that privileged) it also gives us a smaller picture here of God's masterpiece of salvation; God loving us when we are born into a different family (sin nature) and legally making us His own.

Today's Devo's

Today, while looking out at God's beautiful creation of the Mountains from Denver CO, I started reading Matthew again. Matthew 7 really stood out to me, as I think of my life.

"Judge not, that you be not judged. (how often do people use this verse to justify sin...) For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not noice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye," when there is a log in your own eye? You Hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."

Growing up in a Christian home, and going to a Christian School and studying the Bible, it become so easy to think that we (speaking personally) have it figured out completely, that we should be eye surgeons. But I'm still young, (and so are my peers) ((not to ignore 1st Timothy 4:12)) but to think that we in our youth are wiser than others is just a modified "christian" version of the rest of the world's youth who think they are the smartest. The world doesn't revolve around us. Living out the Gospel is just as important as making sure it is known.

TGC 2011

This past week, I had to opportunity to go to The Gospel Coalition Conference in Chicago. It was amazing. I heard some fantastic preachers speak on the subject of preaching the Gospel out of the Old Testament. The conference really got me thinking about my future, and how often I think of my life in the wrong focus. Way too often I look at situations to see how they benefit me, forgetting that I'm not the star of this production. and in the words of Lecrae's song 'Background'...
"It's evident you run the show so let me back down.
You take the leading role, and I'll play the background.
I know I miss my cues, know I forget my lines
I'm sticking to your script, and I'm reading all your signs.
I don't need my name in lights.
I don't need a starring role.
And why gain the whole wide world, if I'm just gon' loose my soul.
And my ways ain't purified, I'll live according to your Word.
I can't endure this life without your wisdom being heard.
So word to every dancer for a pop star
Cuz we all play the background, but mine's a rock star.
Yeah. So if you need me I'll be stage right.
Prayin' the whole world will start embracing stage fright.
So let me fall back and stop giving my suggestions
Cuz when I follow my obsessions I end up confessing.
That I'm not that impressive, matter fact I'm............
A trail of star dust leading to the superstar. "

This is just one of the Highlights of the conference, and I'm sure my next few posts will also be reflections from this past week,
I plan on posting more often in this blog. if anybody's reading this.
